Saturday 10 February

We wake to cloud but it is still very hot. Simon has a swim in the pool and the sea while I go for a run / plod up the coast and back along the beach. Hot and sweaty I cool off on the balcony. There is a lot of activity on the beach today as they are setting up for a Polo tournament on the beach just below Ellie's flat. Australia v Singapore it appears and there are an array of hospitality areas selling Pol Roger to rich guest amongst plastic palm trees. We go to the edge of the beach for a few games of Kubb and Michael and I retain our advantage at 3 games to 1. Michael then drives us down the coast to Southport and Willunga beaches now looking glorious in the sunshine. Ellie has booked us a table at their favourite restaurant in an idyllic setting perched on the cliff with turquoise sea views. Despite being near a netball team of farmers wives dressed in wedding outfits we have a wonderful meal of totally delicious food: calamari, whitebait, crab, roasted aubergine and halloumi salad and tuna ceviche as starters and barramundi, snapper, whiting and pork belly to follow. Lots of tasting and sharing. Clare Valley Riesling and Espresso Martinis finish us off with a bang.
Home to pack and catch a glimpse of the Polo horses on the beach. We have to say farewell to Glenelg and the wonderful view and we are very sad to leave Michael after he drops us at the airport. Bags are already over the 20kg limit (too many bottles of wine from yesterday) but they don't seem to mind and let us through. Our Jetstar flight is delayed by about an hour but eventually arrive at the Travelodge in Hobart at about midnight.
